Bonus beginnings earn up to 6000 starpoints

There’s a new Starwood Hotels promotion: Bonus Beginnings Earn up to 6,000 Starpoints.

You’ll earn 2,000 Starpoints per stay, up to a maximum of 6,000 Starpoints when you stay at participating Starwood Hotels and resorts from December 1, 2012 – February 28, 2013.

Although the image says the offer is for new members, I received this promotion offer via email and I’ve been a member of Starwood for a few years.  I was able to successfully register.

Will that translate into the bonus points? Possibly.   It always pays to register for every promotion, especially ones that are to you from a hotel/airline loyalty program.

Starwood is good about honoring their promotions.

For example during Starwood’s Better By the Night Promotion (read my Starwood Better by the Night post here), I earned the bonus points for my stay at the Sheraton Gateway LAX, the host hotel for the Frequent Traveler University LAX.

2 Easy steps in Bonus Beginnings Earn Up to 6,000 Starpoints:

  1. Register for the Bonus Beginnings promotion here by January 31, 2013.
  2. Stay at a participating Starwood hotel and resort including W®, Le Méridien®, Westin® and Sheraton® between December 1, 2012 – February 28, 2013.

Summary of the fine print:

  • Registration by January 31, 2013 is required
  • 2,000 bonus Starpoints will be received after each eligible stay
  • Maximum of 6,000 bonus Starpoints
  • Stays must be at SPG-participating properties from December 1, 2012, through February 28, 2013

6,000 bonus points is tempting. I might have to add a Starwood hotel or two to my upcoming hotel stay lineup.  How about you?

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is the best card to get started in the world of miles and points. It is the first card you should get to start traveling for free because the welcome offer is 60,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first three months.

My favorite perks about this card are earning 5X points on travel when booked through the Chase portal (2X if direct purchase), 3X points on dining, $50 yearly credit on hotels booked through the Chase portal, no foreign transaction fees, and transferring points to 13 airline and hotel partners like Hyatt, United, and Southwest.

Chase Freedom Unlimited®

The Chase Freedom Unlimited® is one of my favorite cards for earning cash back card and travel rewards. It offers a welcome offer of an additional 1.5% cash back on all your purchases up to $20,000 your first year.

My favorite perks about this card are earning 5% cash back on travel booked through the Chase Travel Portal, 3% cash back at drugstores and restaurants (including delivery and takeout), 1.5% cash back on all other purchases and no annual fee. When paired with cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card or Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, you can use your points to travel for free.

I tried to register and it said I was not eligible. I also did not receive my better by the night bonus for FTU stay at the Sheraton. You must lead a charmed life. :)

Hi Laura,

Hmm, that's a bummer. Maybe next time?

I wish that were the case, I'd buy a lotto ticket. :)
