You can iMessage on Southwest Airlines flights for $2 a day.

On all Southwest Wi-Fi enabled aircraft, you can iMessage to your heart’s content all day for 2 bucks.

2 Easy Steps to Take iMessage on Southwest Flights

1.  Switch your iPhone to airplane mode and connect to the Southwest Wi-Fi network
2.  Select “Messaging” from the “Connect” tab and pay $2

iMessaging, not to be confused, with text messaging, is when you “text” or iMessage someone who also has an iPhone.

iMessaging will not allow you to text.

Can I iMessage if I have an Android phone?

iMessaging is only supported on iPhones.  But Southwest hopes to add more apps in the future.

Can I iMessage someone on the same flight?

Yes, but they must have an iPhone and pay $2.

I have A List elite status with Southwest and get free Wi-Fi, do I need to pay to iMessage?

No.  Texting and iMessaging is included in the all day $8 Wi-Fi rate.

It makes more sense to pay the additional $6 and get the Wi-Fi package.  That way you can get on the internet, check emails, and do more than just iMessaging.

Have more questions about iMessaging on Southwest?  You can read the Messaging FAQs here.

I don’t have any upcoming Southwest flights, but I’m looking forward to trying out iMessaging in flight.

I haven’t used Wi-Fi on Southwest so it would be interesting to see if there are issues with iMessaging and how reliable it is.

Are you going to pay for $2 all day iMessaging on Southwest flights?
