Why is Hyatt Diamond status the best hotel elite status?

New Hyatt Diamond Benefits Added Traveling Well For Less

Hyatt Diamonds can use Diamond Suites upgrades at the Park Hyatt Vienna

In short, free breakfast, Diamond Suite upgrades, early check-in, late check-out, and free in-room Wi-Fi.

And now as a Hyatt Diamond member you can pass on your benefits to friends and family, get free airport lounge access, and premium in room Wi-Fi.

Guest of Honor

Beginning on March 1, 2015, if you have Hyatt Diamond status, you can book a points night for someone else and they get Diamond privileges based on your membership, even if you’re not staying at the hotel.

So now instead of booking rooms for friends and family and also listing yourself on the reservation, you can simply book a room for them.  Easy peasy.

But, this only applies to Hyatt rooms booked on points and not to paid stays or Points + Cash bookings.

This is great for those of us with families.  Now we can book two rooms and get Hyatt Diamond benefits (free breakfast, lounge access, early check-in, late check-out, and free in-room Wi-Fi)  for both rooms.

I’m so looking forward to this new benefit.  We stayed at the Grand Hyatt Kauai last year in one room.  Thankfully, the rooms are big.

But, one room for 2 adults and 2 teenage boys.  I probably don’t need to elaborate.

Free Airport Lounge Access

You get two United Club passes each year which can be used at any United Club location.

United Club airport lounges offer free snacks, free Wi-Fi, and free bar service.  Plus there’s usually plenty of outlets so you can recharge all your electronics before your flight.

This benefit begins on March 1, 2015, so watch for your United Club passes in the mail.

Premium Wi-Fi

This month Hyatt rolled out free Wi-Fi to all Hyatt hotels.

Starting February 14, 2015, Hyatt Diamond and Platinum members will get free premium Wi-Fi.  So now you can spend less time waiting for websites to load and more time getting work done (or reading Facebook, tweeting on Twitter, posting to Instagram.)

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is the best card to get started in the world of miles and points. It is the first card you should get to start traveling for free because the welcome offer is 60,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first three months.

My favorite perks about this card are earning 5X points on travel when booked through the Chase portal (2X if direct purchase), 3X points on dining, $50 yearly credit on hotels booked through the Chase portal, no foreign transaction fees, and transferring points to 13 airline and hotel partners like Hyatt, United, and Southwest.

Chase Freedom Unlimited®

The Chase Freedom Unlimited® is one of my favorite cards for earning cash back card and travel rewards. It offers a welcome offer of an additional 1.5% cash back on all your purchases up to $20,000 your first year.

My favorite perks about this card are earning 5% cash back on travel booked through the Chase Travel Portal, 3% cash back at drugstores and restaurants (including delivery and takeout), 1.5% cash back on all other purchases and no annual fee. When paired with cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card or Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, you can use your points to travel for free.
