Choose Choice Twice Get a Night at No Price

You’ll earn 1 free night after every 2 stays at Choice hotels through April 22, 2015.

But, of course there’s a but because there’s always a but with promotions, and this time, there’s a bunch of butts.  Try saying that fast three times in a row!

Now where was I?  Oh yes, the buts…

The Buts Have It

You have to be a US or Canadian citizen and register before your first check-out.

Your Choice hotel earning preferences have to be set to points or you’re out of luck and won’t earn any free nights.

You can earn an unlimited number of free nights.  But your free nights can only be used at qualifying Choice hotels.

And the free night isn’t truly a free night.

It’s really only 5,000 to 8,000 bonus Choice points.  The exact amount of points depends on the number of base points you earned from your 2 stays.

You have to stay a minimum of 2 consecutive nights at:

So stays at those hotels require 4 nights to earn 1 free night.

If you’re staying 2 consecutive nights you could earn double points at Starwood or 15,000 Club Carlson points.

The Southwest Companion Pass

You can transfer Choice points to Southwest to earn the Southwest Companion Pass.  Every 6,000 Choice points transfers to 1,800 Southwest points.

If you need transferable points for the Southwest Companion Pass and find a Choice hotel for less than $44 a night (including taxes) it could be worth staying at Choice hotels or doing a mattress run.

Otherwise you can buy Choice points for less than it costs to stay at 2 Choice hotels. You’ll pay $11 for 1,000 Choice points. So buying 8,000 Choice points cost $88.

What do you think?  Is the Choose Choice Twice Get a Night at No Price promotion worth it?

Choice runs these promos on a pretty regular basis under different names. I always register and if I need a horror for a night while I'm traveling I see if they have a property an a decent price that fits my needs. I don't go out of my way to stay at them. If I need choice points there are potent of methods to get them, no need to mattress run.

I have stayed at the Pineapple Villas on Roatan and the are one of the best deals on the island. Great facilities for very few points.
