No Fees on Visa Gift Cards at Office Depot and Office Max

Share with a friend

Update April 8, 2015: Offer is dead.

Update April 7, 2015: Mixed reports of this still working.

Update April 4, 2015: MasterCard gift cards are included (Thanks to Chris in IN for letting me know.)

If you buy Visa gift cards, run, don’t walk to the nearest Office Depot and Office Max.  At this moment, there are no fees on all Visa gift card purchases.

No Fees on Visa Gift Cards at Office Depot and Office Max

You can buy Visa gift cards at Office Depot and Office Max today without fees.

There are currently no fees being charged on any fixed rate Visa gift cards to include $25, $50, $100, and $200 cards.

This is a great time to stock up on gift cards.  And of course, if you have a Chase Ink Bold, or Chase Ink Plus card you’ll get 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points on your purchases.

I’m guessing this is a fluke and the error may be fixed by the morning.  Because while I was there with Mr. Pickles (who texted me about the deal), the manager got a call from his district manager asking what was going on.

Perhaps it had something to do with the volume of cards being purchased but the manager relayed that the district manager had been getting calls from all his stores.

My first test purchase to see if there were fees. Result – no fees!

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is the best card to get started in the world of miles and points. It is the first card you should get to start traveling for free because the welcome offer is 60,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first three months.

My favorite perks about this card are earning 5X points on travel when booked through the Chase portal (2X if direct purchase), 3X points on dining, $50 yearly credit on hotels booked through the Chase portal, no foreign transaction fees, and transferring points to 13 airline and hotel partners like Hyatt, United, and Southwest.

Chase Freedom Unlimited®

The Chase Freedom Unlimited® is one of my favorite cards for earning cash back card and travel rewards. It offers a welcome offer of an additional 1.5% cash back on all your purchases up to $20,000 your first year.

My favorite perks about this card are earning 5% cash back on travel booked through the Chase Travel Portal, 3% cash back at drugstores and restaurants (including delivery and takeout), 1.5% cash back on all other purchases and no annual fee. When paired with cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card or Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, you can use your points to travel for free.
