$100 Winner and Results of 2015 Reader Survey

Share with a friend

This was my first reader survey since starting the blog three years ago. And I just wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you!

I was stoked that so many of you took the time to complete the survey. Thank you so much!

I want to share the results with you and the changes to the blog based on your input.  And of course, announce the winner of the $100 gift card.

What I Learned From My 2015 Reader Survey

Expected Results

travel deals, travel tips and using miles and points

Expect to see more posts on travel deals, travel tips, and using miles and points

The top three reasons that most of you read the blog: travel deals, travel tips, and using miles and points. No surprise there.

More than half of you would like to see one post a day.

3 Surprises

Reviews, credit cards, and blogs.

I was surprised by that most of you are comfortable with occasional hotel reviews.  Yikes, because I’m totally behind on all my hotel reviews.

So I’m going to apologize right now because you’re going to see a boatload of accommodation reports over the next year.  No worries because they’ll be peppered throughout the year so it won’t be overwhelming.

credit cards

More credit card information or keep it the same

Also, the exact same number of you who said you want more posts on credit cards also said “why mess with perfection.”

And not quite half of you said you heard about the blog from another blog.  I’d love to know which blog/blogs so I can thank them for sending you my way.

Upcoming Changes

Based on your feedback, here are five things you can look forward to:

1.  More posts on using miles and points, travel tips, and travel deals. You’ll be happy to know that more posts are coming soon.  And not like next year soon, but this year soon. Like maybe even next week…

2.  Daily posts. I’ll do my best to honor that request. There may be times I’ll post twice a day like when there’s a mistake fare, or some other deal that you’ll want to know about.  And there may be times where I don’t post, but I’ll try not to let that happen often.

3.  Unique tips. I’ve been playing the miles and points game since 1994.  But I haven’t always shared all my tricks and tips on the blog. I’ve been working on finishing the hundreds of draft posts in my box.

4.  Improve how you get blog posts. I recently changed newsletter services so that should help.  And I’ve been spending a lot of time learning how to format the subject line of newsletter so that you know what’s in the email or RSS feed.

5.  New blog design. A redesign is in the works. I’ve been learning some coding and with awesome help from Carrie of Travel is Free (Drew’s wife) you’ll be seeing a new look.

Thanks again if you completed the reader survey.  I especially appreciated your thoughtful comments, suggestions, and praise.  And without further ado, let’s get to what you’ve been waiting for, who’s the winner.
