Long lines at Mexico immigrations driving you nuts?  Now you can skip the lines with the Viajero Confiable Program!

How to get Global Entry for Mexico pin

Mexico Global Entry – Viajero Confiable Program

You can get through customs and immigrations faster when flying from Mexico when you join Viajero Confiable Program (Trusted Traveler Program).  This is Mexico’s version of the US Global Entry program.

You get to skip the regular immigration line and head straight to a kiosk which will scan your passport and fingerprints.  And viola! You’re out in a matter of minutes.

Currently, the Viajero Confiable Program is available at three Mexico airports:

  • Cancun
  • Mexico City
  • San Jose del Cabo

The Mexican government hopes to have it available in 10 additional airports.

Like US Global Entry, Viajero Confiable Program membership is valid for 5 years.

But not everyone is eligible.

Who Can Apply for the Viajero Confiable Program?

Viajero Confiable Program is open to:

  • US citizens who are members of Global Entry
  • Mexican citizens

who are at least 18 years old.

So if you’re not a US citizen or Mexican citizen don’t bother applying. At least for now…

I’ve reached out to ask if non-US citizens who are members of Global Entry can apply but haven’t heard back.

How to Apply for the Viajero Confiable Program

1. Fill out the online application. (Print and sign – you’ll need a copy for your interview.)

2. Pay a non-refundable fee of $ 1,372 Mexican pesos (~$89).  Visa and MasterCard only.  Remember to use a card without foreign transaction fees like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, or The Platinum Card® from American Express.

3.  Choose an interview at a Program Enrollment Center minimum of two weeks in advance.

Bring your valid passport along with your printed and signed online application.

Your photo, fingerprints, and iris scans will be taken.

At the end of the interview, the immigration officer will tell you if your application is approved.

Conclusion

If you fly in and out of Mexico it might be worth it to apply for Viajero Confiable Program (Trusted Traveler Program), Mexico’s Global Entry program.

Membership is valid for five years and costs 1,372 Mexican pesos (~$89).

Currently, Viajero Confiable Program is only available at the Cancun, Mexico City, and San Jose del Cabo airports.  But they hope to expand the program.

I haven’t applied yet because I don’t fly out of Mexico often enough to warrant the fee.  But if I did, I’d apply in a heartbeat. I’ve had Global Entry since 2011 and it’s been worth the $100 fee.
