Who Should Take Advantage of This Deal

If you stay at Choice hotels often, getting a 30% discount on points is a decent deal.  Don’t stay at Choice hotels? Here’s why you should buy Choice hotel points.

You can transfer Choice hotel points to Southwest Airlines at a ratio of 6,000 Choice hotel points to 1,800 Southwest points.  And they count towards earning your Southwest Companion Pass.

So buying Choice hotel points is a cheap way to earn a Southwest Companion Pass.

Southwest Companion Pass

The Southwest Companion Pass lets your companion fly with you for free (taxes excluded) for almost two years (depending on when you get your pass).

You get the Southwest Companion Pass after you’ve earned 110,000 Southwest points in a calendar year.

Right now all three versions of the Southwest personal card are offering a sign-up bonus of 50,000 Southwest points after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening.

The Southwest Premier Business card is offering 60,000 points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of having the card.

So you could apply for two Southwest cards (1 personal and 1 business) and earn 114,000 Southwest points after meeting the minimum spending requirements.

You can transfer Choice hotels points to get the remaining 6,000 points.
