Did you stay at the Hyatt Regency DFW Airport this weekend for the USA TODAY Frequent Traveler University Advanced Dallas?
If so, you should double check your Hyatt account, because you might be short 1 night towards Hyatt elite status and charged for breakfast even as a Hyatt Diamond.
You Might Be Short 1 Night Towards Hyatt Elite Status & Charged for Breakfast
You should review your hotel bill and account after each stay. While it can be tedious and seem pointless, there are times it’s worth the effort. And if you were at FTU Advanced Dallas this weekend, this might be one of those times it will pay off.
Hyatt’s computer system was down on Sunday so many of of us who checked out were not given receipts.
My receipt posted tonight and upon reviewing it, I noticed two discrepancies:
- I only got credit for 1 night despite staying 2 nights
- There was a charge for breakfast on Sunday morning (as a Hyatt Diamond I get free breakfast)
Plus the breakfast charge was charged as a lunch charge and the lunch charged as breakfast.
How to Get Your Elite Qualifying Night Posted and Breakfast Charge Removed
I had to call the Hyatt Regency DFW Airport to have them remove the breakfast charge and refund my credit card.
If you paid with a gift card ask if they can give you Hyatt points to offset the charge.
But I also had to call Customer Service at Hyatt Goldpassport to have the additional elite qualifying night added to my account.
Why quibble over 1 elite qualifying night you ask? If you got the 65,000 Hyatt point offer in the Hyatt Stay More Play More promotion, you have to stay 25 nights before April 30, 2015. So 1 night can mean the difference between earning 45,000 or 65,000 Hyatt points. Definitely worth my time calling for 20,000 Hyatt points. Although, it would have been nice if Hyatt offered additional points like they do when the Hyatt Diamond Amenity points don’t post.
Did you check your Hyatt account? Were you shorted 1 elite qualifying night? And if you are a Hyatt Diamond, were you charged for breakfast on Sunday?

Hi Dotti,
Yikes! Apparently some accounts were hacked so Hyatt is requiring everyone to create a new password.
Have you tried calling Hyatt? Hope everything gets sorted out.
