Uber Espanol Expands to 6 Cities

Share with a friend

Earlier this year Uber introduced uber ESPAÑOL in Phoenix, San Diego, and Tucson. Now uberESPAÑOL has expanded to include Chicago, Los Angeles, and Orange County.

Where do you want to go?

I LOVE using Uber, especially when traveling in countries where I don’t speak the language.  So I can understand how comforting it is to be able to request a driver who speaks the same language as you.

There are over 37 million people who speak Spanish in the United States (based on 2013 records).  Uber was smart to launch uberESPAÑOL.  Just surprised they hadn’t introduced it sooner.

The beta Uber bilingual program was an overwhelming success that Uber has expanded it across the nation.  You can request a Spanish-speaking driver in one of these cities:

It’s free to request the Spanish language option.  But, uberESPAÑOL is limited to uberX cars.  When you select a uberX ride you’re picked up by a driver using their personal vehicle.

So if you want an UberBlack, UberSUV, UberPLUS, or even Uberpool, you’re out of luck and stuck with a gringo.  I think Uber has struck out on this one.  They should expand Uber Espanol to UberBlack and UberSUV.

How to Request uberESPAÑOL

To use Uber Espanol, you have to link promotional code “UBERESPANOLLA” to your Uber account.  Follow the instructions below to find out how to link the promo code and request a Spanish speaking uberX driver.

1.  Access Your “PROMOTIONS” page

From your Uber account, click on “PROMOTIONS” in the Uber app.

When requesting your uberX car, select the “ESPAÑOL” option.  If a Spanish speaking uberX driver is available, the field will be blue and you can choose the “ESPAÑOL” option.  If no driver is available, the “ESPAÑOL” option will be grayed out.  Then request your car.

There’s no guarantee that an Uber Espanol driver will be available.  But at least there’s a possibility.

Although Spanish isn’t my native language, it’s my default language when traveling.  Even in countries where Spanish is not spoken.  Yeah, riddle me that one.  Now if only Uber would introduce Uber Jive.

Do you think not having Uber Espanol for UberBlack and UberSUV is a disservice? What other languages would you like to see Uber offer?
