It’s no secret that I love having Hyatt Diamond status.
And while Hyatt doesn’t have as many hotels as Hilton, IHG, Marriott, or Starwood, Hyatt has hotels in terrific locations like Dubai, Milan, Sydney, and the Maldives.
As a Hyatt Diamond you get free breakfast at the Park Hyatt Sydney
So every year I make sure I complete at least 25 Hyatt stays a year.
But with the Hyatt Diamond Challenge, you can earn Hyatt Diamond status with half that amount!
2 Easy Steps to Hyatt Diamond Challenge
1. Enroll in the Hyatt Diamond Challenge by calling Hyatt at 800-304-9288 or emailing [email protected]
2. Stay 12 nights at any Hyatt hotel worldwide over a 60 day period
Hyatt Diamond Challenge Details
The Hyatt Diamond Challenge will be available from January 1, 2015, through May 31, 2015.
- Status from another hotel is not required
- You receive Platinum status while enrolled in the Hyatt Diamond Challenge
- Stay 12 nights in 60 days and you get Hyatt Diamond status through February 2016
- You get 1,000 bonus points each night for your first 6 nights
- M-life hotel stays do not count
- Points+Cash stays count
The flaws in the Hyatt Diamond Challenge
1. Dreaded deadline
As a writer, I’m used to deadlines. But for most travelers, deadlines suck.
The Hyatt Diamond Challenge 2015 is a limited time offer that ends on May 31, 2015. So you may need to shift your travel plans to fit in your Hyatt stays over the next five months.
Hyatt could extend it or offer the Hyatt Diamond Challenge again, but there are no guarantees.
2. The hard way
Current Hyatt Diamond members can’t participate in the challenge. We have to requalify for Diamond status the hard way, 25 stays or 50 nights in a year.
However, current Platinum members are in luck. If you’re a Hyatt Platinum, you can go straight to Go and collect $200. Or rather, achieve Diamond status in the half the time with only 12 nights. Although you only have 60 days for those 12 nights, it’s a great bargain!
Who should do this challenge?
If you don’t have elite status, you’re making out like a bandit because under the old Hyatt Diamond Challenge requirements you had to show similar elite status with another hotel.
Enrolling in the Hyatt Diamond Challenge is free so if you don’t complete the challenge, you get Platinum status through February 2016 and 6,000 bonus Hyatt points (assuming you stay 6 nights).

Debbie -- you are aware that this challenge doesn't really exist? At least according to the @Hyatt Concierge, Hyatt Goldpassport Concierge on FlyerTalk and reports on too numerous to count frustrated posters on numerous blogs!
