1.  Free Rides on Uber

Get a free Uber ride in downtown San Diego from 10 am to 10 pm through July 11, 2015.

map of included areas can be found here. With Comic-Con in town give yourself plenty of time to get where you need to be. Because the downtown area is hoppin’.

Be sure to select the “COLONY” option when you request your ride.

New to Uber?  You can get $20 in Uber credit when you sign-up using my link (and I get a $20 credit too).

2.  3X United Airlines Miles

Use Super Shuttle and get 3X United Airlines miles

Use Super Shuttle and get 3X United Airlines miles through September 13, 2015

Through September 13, 2015, you’ll get 3X United Airlines miles when you book with SuperShuttle.  But you have to book online or via the SuperShuttle app and use promo code Q9WUD.

Remember to add your MileagePlus account number to the reservation.

3.  IHG Adds New Elite Category

IHG Adds New Elite Category

IHG Adds new elite category – Spire

Got Platinum status with IHG? Guess what, you’re no longer top dog.

IHG has added a new elite category, “Spire,” that trumps the Platinum level.  Hmm, must be all those Platinums via the IHG credit card with few actual stays at IHG hotels…

You’ll earn Spire elite status after staying 75 nights at IHG hotels or earning 75,000 qualifying points in a calendar year.  Unfortunately, the sign-up bonus from the IHG credit card does NOT count towards elite status.

Traveling Well For Less has partnered with Your Best Credit Cards for our coverage of credit card products. Traveling Well For Less and YBCC may receive a commission from card issuers.

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is the best card to get started in the world of miles and points. It is the first card you should get to start traveling for free because the welcome offer is 60,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first three months.

My favorite perks about this card are earning 5X points on travel when booked through the Chase portal (2X if direct purchase), 3X points on dining, $50 yearly credit on hotels booked through the Chase portal, no foreign transaction fees, and transferring points to 13 airline and hotel partners like Hyatt, United, and Southwest.

Chase Freedom Unlimited®

The Chase Freedom Unlimited® is one of my favorite cards for earning cash back card and travel rewards. It offers a welcome offer of an additional 1.5% cash back on all your purchases up to $20,000 your first year.

My favorite perks about this card are earning 5% cash back on travel booked through the Chase Travel Portal, 3% cash back at drugstores and restaurants (including delivery and takeout), 1.5% cash back on all other purchases and no annual fee. When paired with cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card or Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, you can use your points to travel for free.

What's your source to say that credit card sign-up points do not count towards the status? I would imagine that the sign-up points would count towards "partner rewards" which the fine print says are EQP (Elite Qualifying Points).

Hi Justin,

The IHG rep posted on FT that the sign-up bonus does not count - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/24663657-post81.html.
