Joining First2Board

A couple of weeks ago, I received the following direct message on Twitter:

TheMrPicklesTwitterDM

My immediate was reaction was shock.  Had my application for the First2Board Platinum Visa credit card been rejected?

Losing 100k bonus points would be rough, not to mention 3x bonus points on spending, no annual fee, and airline lounge access.  Needless to say I was dejected.

I would be the laughing stock of the miles and points community.

I might have to start using Bluebird and My Vanilla Debit (MVD) as they were actually intended and not just for manufacturing miles and points? Gasp!

Facing my fears head on and ever the optimist, I immediately responded back to MrPickles, begging for reconsideration, “I am sending you a tray of Brie via FedEx.”

Thankfully my First2Board Platinum Visa credit card application was approved instantly, Joshua merely wanted to know if I was interested in joining First2Board.

After telephone conversations with MrPickles and Stacey, founder of First2Board and writer of Very Good Points, whom I peppered with questions and probably gave the impression that I’m a PITA, having thoughtfully considered the offer, I decided to accept and join First2Board.

The move to First2Board will occur sometime mid-May so until then everything will remain the same.

You’ll still be able to use the Traveling Well For Less url we’ll just have a new “home.”

I hope you’ll join me in this new journey. There’s exciting things in store for me and the rest of the First2Board crew, and I hope you’ll be a part of it.

Traveling Well For Less has partnered with Your Best Credit Cards for our coverage of credit card products. Traveling Well For Less and YBCC may receive a commission from card issuers.

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is the best card to get started in the world of miles and points. It is the first card you should get to start traveling for free because the welcome offer is 60,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first three months.

My favorite perks about this card are earning 5X points on travel when booked through the Chase portal (2X if direct purchase), 3X points on dining, $50 yearly credit on hotels booked through the Chase portal, no foreign transaction fees, and transferring points to 13 airline and hotel partners like Hyatt, United, and Southwest.

Chase Freedom Unlimited®

The Chase Freedom Unlimited® is one of my favorite cards for earning cash back card and travel rewards. It offers a welcome offer of an additional 1.5% cash back on all your purchases up to $20,000 your first year.

My favorite perks about this card are earning 5% cash back on travel booked through the Chase Travel Portal, 3% cash back at drugstores and restaurants (including delivery and takeout), 1.5% cash back on all other purchases and no annual fee. When paired with cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card or Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, you can use your points to travel for free.

The best part is the Brie Bribe! Can anything be accomplished in this world without melty cheese?
