How To Save 20 Percent With Hyatt "My Elite Rate" Traveling Well For Less

I’m saving 20 percent at the Hyatt Regency Dubai

Yesterday, January 7, 2014, Hyatt introducted a new award chart, and a few other key benefits to the Gold Passport program.

Diamond and Platinum Gold Passport members can book My Elite Rates to save 20 percent off the Hyatt Daily Rate.  And you don’t need a coupon code.

I was able to get two $281 roundtrip flights to Dubai during the Wideroe “sale” and need to book my hotel.

So last night I booked a night at the Hyatt Regency Dubai using the My Elite Rate.

My Elite Rate is available for online booking

One of my nights, the My Elite Rate was the same price as the Advance Purchase rate.  But the My Elite Rate doesn’t require prepayment and is refundable.

Booking a My Elite Rate

It was a pretty straightforward process. I signed into my Hyatt account and entered my destination and date in the reservation search box.

The My Elite Rate tab appeared along with the other available rates.

A quick click on the Book button and viola, I saved 20 percent on my hotel room.

If you don’t already have Platinum or Diamond status, you can get Platinum status from the Hyatt credit card.

If you have elite status with another hotel, you can do a Diamond Challenge by calling Hyatt at 1-800-233-1234.

Some Things to Keep in Mind

1) You have to sign into to see the My Elite Rate tab.

The My Elite Rate tab will only be visible is you’re signed in and are a Diamond or Platinum Gold Passport member.

2) Other rates may be less than the My Elite Rate.

When I booked my stays, the My Elite Rate was less than the Advance Purchase rate.

But by the time I wrote this post, the rates had changed and the My Elite Rate was the same as the Advance Purchase rate.

3) You might not get the bed type you want.

For one of my reservations, I had to book a Twin room to get the My Elite Rate.  While having a King bed would be nice, since I’m traveling alone, a Twin bed is fine.

I’d rather save 20% and sleep in a smaller bed than pay more to sleep in a bigger bed.

Summary of the fine print:

  • Rate is valid for Platinum and Diamond members
  • Stays must be completed between January 7, 2014 to December 31, 2014
  • Rate is 20% of the Hyatt Daily Rate
  • Rate can’t be combined with other promotions or discounts
  • Rate is based on single or double occupancy.  There is a charge for additional guests.
  • There are a limited number of rooms available for My Elite Rate
  • Hyatt Zilara and Hyatt Ziva are excluded from participation in My Elite Rate
  • Blackout dates may apply

You can read the My Elite Rate terms and conditions here.

I’m excited about being able to save 20 percent without having to enter a discount code or wait for a sale.

Have you booked a Hyatt My Elite Rate yet?
