10 Things I'm Thankful For Traveling Well For Less

7 Things I’m Thankful For This Thanksgiving

1.  We don’t have to ask dad

We live in a country where we can travel freely.  We can visit any of the states and most foreign countries without having to get permission from our government.

2.  Not cheap, but doable

We live in a country where travel is affordable.  We might not like the prices, but at airfare is much lower now than it was during deregulation.  And we have options.

3.  Planes, trains, and automobiles

When visiting family, friends, or new destinations we can fly, take a train or drive.  We aren’t limited in our choices.

4.  No red ink

We live in a country that allows us freedom of speech. We can talk freely about anything without government reprisal.

5.  Food and shelter

We have access to clean food and a roof over our heads.  We don’t have to worry that the water we drink is contaminated or will make us sick.

6.  Staying connected

We can talk for free via Skype. We can share photos on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. We can get on the internet when flying.

7.  Special price, just for you

Loyalty programs allow us to travel for free.  We can earn miles and points on everything.  We might have a few workarounds but if a mile or point can be earned, it will be earned.  Sure, devaluations occur all the time, but at least we have the opportunity to earn and redeem.

Hope you’re having a wonderful Thanksgiving.

What are you thankful for?

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is the best card to get started in the world of miles and points. It is the first card you should get to start traveling for free because the welcome offer is 60,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first three months. You can get up to $1,050 in Chase Travel value: the 60k points are worth $750 when booked through the Chase Travel portal. And you get up to $300 in statement credits on travel booked through the Chase portal your first year.

My favorite perks about this card are earning 5X points on travel when booked through the Chase portal (2X if direct purchase), 3X points on dining, $50 yearly credit on hotels booked through the Chase portal, no foreign transaction fees, and transferring points to 13 airline and hotel partners like Hyatt, United, and Southwest.
