To avoid the rain, visit in July and August. But expect to see lots of crowds.
How to get to Machu Picchu using miles and points
You can use miles and points to fly to Lima. From there you can take a long bus ride or 1 ½ flight to Cusco, and then take a train from Cusco to Machu Picchu.
The cheapest way to get to Lima is by using Alaska Airlines miles:
- 20,000 Alaska Airlines miles for a 1-way coach ticket
- 30,000 Alaska Airlines miles for a 1-way Business Class ticket
- 40,000 Alaska Airlines miles for a 1-way First Class ticket
A quick way to get 25,000 Alaska Airlines miles (1-way coach or just shy of a 1-way Business Class ticket) is by applying for the Alaska Airlines card. This is a great no minimum spend required card because you get the miles after you've approved.
