IHG Rewards Club is offering up to an 80% bonus when you buy IHG points by May 31, 2018. The exact amount of your bonus varies depending on how many points you purchase.

If you buy at least 25,000 IHG points you’ll get the 80% bonus. You can buy or receive 100,000 points a year. Points take 72 hours to post so be sure to purchase them several days before you plan on redeeming.

Normally, IHG points cost 1.15 cents to 1.35 cents per point. With this promotion, the price drops to 0.56 cents per point.

  • Buy 1,000 to 4,000 points: pay 1.35 cents per point and get no bonus
  • Buy 5,000 to 14,000 points: pay 0.82 to 0.96 cents per point and get a 40% bonus
  • Buy 15,000 to 24,000 points: pay 0.72 cents per point and get a 60% bonus
  • Buy 25,000 to 100,000 points: pay 0.56 to 0.64 cents per point and get a 100% bonus

How to Buy IHG Points

1.  Use the IHG buy points link.
2.  Enter your information.
3.  Select how many points you want to buy.
4.  Pay with your credit card.

Use a card that you need to meet the minimum spend. Because buying IHG points isn’t considered a travel purchase.

Pro-tip: Save 20% when you pay with your IHG Premier card. Your cost for 180,000 points would only be $0.44 cents a point.

Should You Buy IHG Points?

Purchasing points because there’s a bonus offer doesn’t mean it’s a good deal. I’ve posted about the only time you should buy hotel points.

In some situations buying IHG points is worth it. But you have to do the math.

You could save a lot of money buying points. Especially if you use your points to stay at expensive hotels or during peak times like summer and the holidays.

Or use points to take advantage of IHG pointbreaks deals where hotels only cost 5,000 points a night!

I'm pretty sure that the 20% discount with the new IHG Premier credit card can't be combined with a bonus promotion. As I understand it, the discount only applies when purchasing points at full price. I'm only going off of what a couple of IHG reps have told me though...if someone out there has been able to get the discount plus the bonus promo, I'd love to hear it!
