Bed, Breakfast, And A View: Top 10 B&Bs

Besides free WiFi could a vacation get any better than a bed, breakfast, and a view?  We think not and apparently BedandBreakfast.com shares our sentiment.  BedandBreakfast.com released their 2012 Top Ten B&Bs with the Best Views award and the list is impressive.  Three of the winners have piqued our interest.

1.  Back to nature

To truly want to get away from it all yet remain connected, Haus Schonegg in Kiental, Switzerland is the ideal B&B and our top pick.

Located in Kiental, Switzerland, Haus Schonegg will have you yodeling in little time.  Surrounded by gorgeous alps, there’s plenty to keep you busy throughout the year from hiking and biking to cross-country skiing and sledding.  And with two airports within a 2 hour drive, Haus Schonegg is easily accessible via car or  Berner Oberland train pass.

2. Diamond in the rough

Hacienda Del Sol B&B is part of BedandBreakfast.com’s Diamond Collection: an exclusive group of luxury inns that must go through an annual profession inspection, must meet certain minimum standards such as maintain a 4.0 out of 5 rating, and offer WiFi and similar amenities offered by mid and top tier hotels.  A complete list of the entire BedandBreakfast.com’s Diamond Collection can be found here.

Only 22 minutes from Taos Regional Airport and within a 15 minute drive to Taos Ski Valley, Hacienda Del Sol B&B in Taos, New Mexico is another great year round destination.  With 2 Night ski and lift packages starting at only $410, Hacienda Del Sol B&B should be at the top of your list of accommodations for the 2013 ski season.

3. Home away from home

I’m probably one of the few people who like having access to a full kitchen when I travel.  Don’t get me wrong I love going out for a great meal.  But when you want to travel well for less having a full kitchen will help you make the most out of your travel dollar.  Staying in the Garden Room at Eagles View B&B provides you with an amazing view of Puget Sound and a full kitchen.  Not to mention all the other amenities like a fireplace and sauna.

Just 9 miles from downtown Seattle, Eagles View B&B is close enough to keep you near the action but far enough for you to enjoy the quiet of the Puget Sound.  Easily accessible by car, bus, or light rail, the Seattle Airport is a mere 4 miles away.

Switzerland is heaven on earth. But as all good things, it is really expensive. These B&B suggestions seem cost effective and at the same time ooze the spirit of Switzerland in their ambience.
