Earn Up to 5,000 Bonus Hyatt Points

Share with a friend

If you have the World of Hyatt credit card, you can earn up to 5,000 bonus Hyatt points with the World of Hyatt’s new promotion, February Spend offer.

Learn more about the World of Hyatt card.

These points are in addition to the points you’re already earning with your card and stack with the Bonus Journeys double points promotion.

As with most World of Hyatt promotions, to earn the bonus points, you have to register for this offer. The last day to register is February 28, 2021.

February Spend Offer

Under this promotion, you’ll earn points based on the number of card transactions you have using your World of Hyatt card in the month of February.

Some charges to your card such as your annual fee posting, balance transfers, cash advances, buying travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers, or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, racetrack wagers or similar betting transactions don’t qualify as a transaction under this promotion.

Pro-tip: Transactions have to post by February 28, 2021. So you may want to hit all the qualified transactions before the end of the month, say February 25 so that they post in time. Especially if you’re ordering something online and shipping is delayed.

So the more you swipe your card to pay, the more points you’ll earn:

  • 10 transactions = 1,000 bonus points
  • 25 transactions = 2,500 bonus points
  • 50+ transactions = 5,000 bonus points

Pro-tip: The maximum amount of points you can earn under this offer is 5,000 points.

So technically, the points earned are 1,000 after 10 transactions, and additional 1,500 after 25 transactions, and a final 2,500 after 50 transactions.

All swipes, including payments made with Apple Pay, Digital Wallet, Swipe, Contactless, Tap and Pay, and reoccurring transactions qualify as eligible transactions.

Each purchase must be for at least $1.

If you do the math, $10 earns you 1,000 points, $25 earns 2,500 points, and $50 earns 5,000 points.

How to Maximize the February Spend Offer

You can maximize and earn the greatest number of points by splitting your payments into multiple transactions, similar to my hack to earn extra dines from the airline dining program.

Instead of using World of Hyatt card on 50 different purchases in February, split the bill.

Let’s say you are at the grocery store and are buying 15 things, each costing at least $1. With the February spend promotion, this purchase would qualify as 1 transaction. You’ll still need 9 more transactions to earn 1,000 points.

Instead of paying for all 15 items with one swipe or charge to your car, break up your purchase into 15 separate transactions.

With this method you’ll earn 15 transactions and 1,000 bonus points. Plus you’ll be that much closer to earning the next tier of 2,500 bonus points!

Yeah, it will mean a bit longer at the grocery store and maybe some dirty looks from the cashier and people behind you.

But hey, we’re miles and points people.

We do what it takes to earn the most miles and points possible, even extreme measures. And if that means 10 extra minutes at the grocery store and drawing the ire of people you will never see again in your life, so be it.

You can laugh the entire time you’re flying free in First Class on an international flight on Lufthansa or Cathay Pacific. Or staying in a five-star hotel for free.

When you’re a Globalist, you’ll get a free upgrade to a suite at Hyatt hotels. Remember you can earn Globalist (lite) with half the required nights. You can travel hack Globalist status in 9 nights.

Pro-tip: Before you separate your items into multiple charges, please check to see how many people are behind you in line. If there’s a long line behind you, don’t separate their items into multiple charges. But if there are 1 or 2, then separate away.
