Everything You Need to Know About Hyatt Globalist Benefits

Hyatt Globalist is the World of Hyatt’s top-tier elite status that you can earn. There’s a tier above Hyatt Globalist called Courtesy Card. Courtesy Card is an exclusive invitation-only tier with a limited number of members.

One of my favorite hotel elite statuses is World of Hyatt Globalist because of all the perks at Hyatt hotels and resorts.

Free Breakfast

Globalists receive free full breakfast (one entree or breakfast buffet, juice, and coffee plus taxes, service charges, and gratuity) for up to two adults and two children. In-room dining is excluded. But some hotels allow Globalists to order room service.

At hotels with a club or lounge, breakfast is taken in the club/lounge. Some hotels with a club/lounge will let you have breakfast in the restaurant.

There are some exemptions to the breakfast benefit: Miraval, Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, Hyatt Residence Club hotels and resorts, the Laurel Inn, the Hotel del Sol, Ventana Campground, and Destination Residences.

At Hyatt Regency Bethesda, instead of a full breakfast Globalists get daily continental breakfast. The Lodge at Spruce Peak and Resort at Squaw Creek, both Destination Residences, provide full breakfast benefits.

Caption by Hyatt hotels breakfast benefit includes “elevated” coffe and one “small” plate for each registered guest, maximum of 2 adults and 2 children.

Pro-tip: Each hotel determines what age they consider a child. When traveling with children it’s a good idea to call the hotel you’re staying to find out the age cut-off for kids.

Unlimited Free Upgrades Including Suites

As a Hyatt Globalist, you get unlimited free upgrades including suites! This is a HUGE value and one of my favorite perks. Hotels only have to upgrade to standard suites. But some hotels have generously upgraded me to fantastic suites like the Saatchi Suite, a Park Suite, and a Presidential Suite.

Pro-tip: This perk is not available at Caption by Hyatt, Destination Residences, Hyatt House, Hyatt Place, and Hyatt Residence Club hotels and resorts.

Free Premium Internet

Free premium internet is another valuable Globalist perk. Instead of having to pay extra for faster in-room Wi-Fi you can surf to your heart’s content without getting throttled.

Early Check-In

Globalists get early check-in at 12 pm. Some hotels will let you check in first thing in the morning if your room is ready.

Late Check-Out

The late check-out of 4 pm Hyatt Globalist perk means you can sleep in, get work done, or relax at the spa before you leave for home or board an evening flight.

Pro-tip: Late check out is not available at Hyatt resorts, Destination Residences locations, Hyatt Residence Club resorts, and hotels with a casino.

Bottle of Water Daily

Globalists can a free bottle of water daily. Staying hydrated while traveling is important, especially after a flight.

Waived Resort Fees

More hotels have added destination or resort fees, also called facility fees. As a Hyatt Globalist, you enjoy waived resort fees. Fees charged by Hyatt Residence Club resorts are not waived.

Pro-tip: Other fees or service fees charged by the hotel or resort are not waived.

Free Parking on Award Nights

Globalists get free parking on award nights where parking is chargeable to the room. When a hotel or resort offers self-parking and valet parking, you can choose free self-parking or valet parking. Parking in some cities is expensive, as high as $80 a night! If you’re staying multiple nights, this really adds up.

Pro-tip: Free parking is not valid at Hyatt Residence Club resorts.

30% Bonus Points on Paid Stays

Hyatt Globalists earn 30% bonus points on paid stays. So a $100 stay would earn 500 Hyatt points plus 150 bonus points as a Globalist. You’ll earn an extra 400 points when you pay with the World of Hyatt card or The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card.

Guaranteed Room

As a Hyatt Globalist, you can get a guaranteed room at a sold out hotel when you book up to 48 hours in advance. Rates won’t be cheap and minimum stay and blackout dates apply.

Guaranteed availability is not valid at Destination Residences, Hyatt Residence Club resorts, Hyatt resorts, or any Hyatt hotel with a casino.

Pro-tip: Guaranteed availability is not offered on Guest of Honor reservations.

Share Globalist Perks

Hyatt Globalists can share Globalist perks through the Guest of Honor program (GOH).

Your non-Globalist family members and friends can take advantage of your status and enjoy all the Globalist perks.

Pro-tip: GOH reservations are not valid at Hyatt Residence Club resorts.

Fast Track American Airlines Elite Status

As a Hyatt Globalist, you can fast track American Airlines elite status.

This is a targeted offer for select Globalists.

Pro-tip: Remember to link your WOH account with your American Airlines account to earn 1 AA mile for every dollar spent at Hyatt.

Milestone Awards

Each year you can extra perks from free hotel nights, club lounge awards, to suite upgrades called milestone awards.

These awards are available to all World of Hyatt members regardless of status. You earn milestone awards based on qualifying nights or earned based points.

Globalists received these benefits at all Hyatt hotels worldwide. But, there are some exemptions based on hotel brand. Before we take a look at what perks you get at each of the different Hyatt brands, here’s how to earn Hyatt Globalist status.

How to Earn Hyatt Globalist Status

Anyone can earn Hyatt Globalist status and there are several ways to do so.

Stays

You can earn Hyatt Globalist status when you complete 60 qualifying stays at any Hyatt hotel worldwide in a calendar year. Be sure you check out on December 31st so you don’t make this mistake.

Stays paid with cash, cash + points, and points count as a qualifying stay.

Pro-tip: Free night certificates earned from the World of Hyatt credit card and free nights earned from brand awards also qualify as a stay. This means they count towards earning Hyatt Globalist status.

Base Points

You can earn Hyatt Globalist status by earning 100,000 base points a year.

You earn five base points per $1 on paid World of Hyatt stays. So you could earn Globalist status by spending $20,000 a year at Hyatt hotels. This could be one expensive suite for a night or many hotel rooms throughout the year.

When you earn 1,000,000 base points you earn Lifetime Globalist Status.

Base points are only earned from stays. Unlike the Southwest card where the bonus counts towards the Companion Pass, the bonus on the World of Hyatt card is considered bonus points. So it doesn’t count towards earning Globalist status.

Points earned from promotions, special offers, and having status are also considered bonus points, not base points. There’s a difference between base points and bonus points.

Pro-tip: With the World of Hyatt credit card and World of Hyatt Business Card you earn an extra 4 bonus points per $1 on paid stays.

World of Hyatt Card

You can earn Globalist status with the World of Hyatt credit card.

Each year you earn 5 elite qualifying nights on your card anniversary.

Pro-tip: If you’re applying for the first time, you’ll earn these 5 nights towards elite status after your first billing cycle.

For every $5,000 you spend on your World of Hyatt card, you earn two elite qualifying nights. So you could earn Hyatt Globalist status just from credit card spending. But it’s a lot of spending. You have to spend $137,500 to earn Hyatt Globalist status. Yikes!

Pro-tip: You earn five elite qualifying nights for every $10,000 in spending in a calendar year on The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card.

World of Hyatt Business Credit Card

You can earn World of Hyatt Globalist status with the World Of Hyatt Business Card.

For every $10,000 you spend in a calendar year on your The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card, you earn five elite qualifying nights. You’ll earn Hyatt Globalist after spending $120,000.

Pro-tip: Spending towards elite qualifying nights from the World of Hyatt Business card is by calendar year.

Because free stays count towards elite status, you can earn Hyatt Globalist status on stays paid with points from the World of Hyatt Card or the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card. Or transferred points from cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card, Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, or Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card.

Meetings & Events

You can also earn Hyatt Globalist status by having 20 meetings or events a year at Hyatt hotels.

To qualify as a meeting or event, a minimum of 10 paid guest rooms are required. Attendees pay for the rooms themselves using the group code. Points earned from paid nights count as bonus points and don’t qualify towards earning Hyatt Globalist status.

Events held at any Vacation Ownership Property, Hyatt Vivid, Impression by Secrets, Secrets, Dreams, Breathless, Zoëtry, Alua, Sunscape, or other Legacy AMR Collection properties are excluded as qualifying events.

You can also rent a meeting or conference room at a Hyatt hotel and/or pay for food and beverages during the meeting. Renting conference or meeting room space earns 1 point per $1 (up to $50,000 points). Points earned from catered food and beverage purchases count towards base points and Globalist status.

Pro-tip: Booking meeting space at inexpensive Hyatt hotels on the weekends and in some countries when it’s cheaper and makes more sense to pay cash instead of redeeming points is a quick way to earn Hyatt status.

Status Challenge or Fast Track

On occasion, the World of Hyatt offers a status challenge or fast track offer to earn Hyatt Globalist status.

A status challenge is when you have elite status from another hotel and you ask another hotel to match that status. They can either grant your request and match your status like Best Western does. Or they can offer you a fast track offer.

A fast track offer is an opportunity to earn elite status faster. Instead of having to stay the full night requirement of 60 nights for Globalist, you can earn status by staying fewer nights. And you get status while participating in the fast track offer.

You can sign up for the current World of Hyatt fast track elite tier offer.

Business Traveler Fast Track Offer

Hyatt offers a fast track to Globalist offer for business travelers. Although this is targeted at business travelers, leisure travelers could benefit.

To qualify, call the sales department of a Hyatt hotel to sign up. Register by the deadline. Stay 20 nights at any Hyatt hotel.

Pro-tip: Some large corporations have ongoing fast track offers for Hyatt elite status. Check with your human resources department to see if your company is eligible.

Challenge for American Airlines Elites

If you have American Airlines AAdvantage Gold, Platinum, Platinum Pro, or Executive Platinum status you may be eligible for a Globalist fast track offer.

Check your email to see if you’re eligible. Then register by the deadline and stay 20 nights at any Hyatt hotel within 90 days.

Pro-tip: When you earn Hyatt Globalist status through a status match or fast track offer you do not earn milestone rewards.

How to Get Hyatt Globalist Benefits Without Earning It

If you don’t have Hyatt Globalist status or don’t have any Globalist friends, there are three ways to get Globalist benefits without earning them.

Don’t care about free breakfast and the other perks that come from Globalist status? Only looking for upgrades? Check out the ultimate guide on how to get a free hotel upgrade and the ultimate guide on how to get VIP treatment at hotels.

Guest of Honor

You can get Hyatt Globalist benefits without earning it through the Guest of Honor perk.

With a Guest of Honor booking, a Hyatt Globalist makes a reservation for you using their points. This lets you get all the perks the Globalist would have received including a free upgrade to a suite!

Here’s how to make a World of Hyatt Guest of Honor booking.

The person you made the Guest of Honor booking for earns elite night stay credit.

Pro-tip: GOH reservations are not valid at Hyatt Residence Club resorts.

Hyatt Prive

You can get some Hyatt Globalist benefits like free breakfast and late check out when using the Hyatt Prive program. You also get a guaranteed one-category upgrade.

Hyatt Prive rates are the standard rate and are only available through a Virtuoso travel agent. I’m a Virtuoso agent and can book your Hyatt stays.

As a World of Hyatt Globalist, I’ve booked a Hyatt Prive rate several times in Australia, Mexico, and Arizona.

I like using Hyatt Prive at hotels with a club lounge. Not only do I get to use the club lounge but I also get to have a full breakfast in the restaurant. 🙂

Pro-tip: You also get a $100 property credit. Send me an email if you want to make a Hyatt Prive booking.

Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts

Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR) is another program that gives you some Hyatt Globalist perks without status.

Guaranteed perks of FHR include free breakfast, late checkout, and a one category upgrade. Some hotels include a $100 resort credit.

Pro-tip: Only The Platinum Card® from American Express, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, The American Express Corporate Platinum Card®, or The Centurion® Card from American Express can book hotels through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts.

World of Hyatt Globalists Benefits at Hyatt Hotels By Brand

As a top tier elite member of the World of Hyatt program, Globalists receive lots of perks. But some of these benefits aren’t applicable at all Hyatt hotels.

Here’s a complete list of the Hyatt Globalist benefits you’ll receive at every Hyatt hotel brand in their portfolio, from Andaz, Hyatt House to Park Hyatt, and everything between.

Globalist perks at partnerships such at SLH are listed below.

At hotels with a club or lounge, Globalists use their free breakfast benefit at the club/lounge. Some hotels make exceptions and let Globalists eat in the restaurant. But YMMV (your miles may vary).

  • Free premium internet
  • Early check-in
  • Late check-out (4 pm)
  • Bottle of water daily
  • Free parking on award nights
  • Waived resort fees
  • 30% bonus points on paid stays
  • Guaranteed room up to 48 hours in advance (blackout dates apply)

Hyatt Globalist Benefits at Hyatt House

Hyatt House hotels are designed for extended stay travelers because rooms are spacious and some include kitchens. But regular people like you and me stay there too. When you stay at a Hyatt House, as a Hyatt Globalist you get:

  • Early check-in
  • Bottle of water daily
  • Late check-out (4 pm)
  • Free parking on award nights
  • 30% bonus points on paid stays
  • Guaranteed room up to 48 hours in advance (blackout dates apply)

Pro-tip: All World of Hyatt members get free breakfast at Hyatt House.

Hyatt Globalist Benefits at Hyatt Place

Hyatt Place hotels are a great value for budget travelers. But they don’t have the facilities to offer all the Globalist perks. All World of Hyatt member guests enjoy free breakfast.

Pro-tip: Free breakfast is not available at Hyatt Place hotels in the Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa, Middle East, and Southwest Asia region.

Most Hyatt Place hotels provide free parking to all guests and don’t have resort fees. Globalists get waived resort fees at locations that charge a fee.

As a Globalist staying at Hyatt Place you get:

  • Late check-out (4 pm)
  • Bottle of water daily
  • 30% bonus points on paid stays

Hyatt Globalist Benefits at Hyatt Residence Club

Because Hyatt Residence Club is a timeshare property, they don’t have to provide Globalist benefits. Instead, Globalists get a 30% bonus on paid stays.

Pro-tip: Some Hyatt Residence Club hotels do their best to honor Globalist perks. I got a free suite upgrade at Hyatt Residence Sedona Pinon Pointe and was offered late checkout.

Globalist Benefits at Hyatt Partner Hotels By Brand

Hyatt Globalist Benefits at SLH Hotels

Hyatt Globalist benefits at SLH hotels differ from those at Hyatt hotels worldwide. There are no special benefits for Hyatt Globalists at SLH hotels. SLH hotels are not Hyatt hotels but have a partnership arrangement with World of Hyatt.

All World of Hyatt members get:

  • Free continental breakfast
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi
  • Free one category room upgrade
  • Early check-in
  • Late checkout (2 pm based on availability)

Pro-tip: Not all SLH hotels participate in the partnership with Hyatt. Be sure to call and confirm if you want to earn elite night credit and Hyatt points.

Globalist benefits are the same at all Hyatt hotels worldwide. But, there are some exclusions based on hotel brand and what they can offer.

Free, unlimited suite upgrades are my favorite benefit.

What about the welk property in Escondido ? It’s one of 7 hotels categorized as hyatt brand but when I called they said they are a timeshare and it’s new to hyatt and nobody seems to know what’s included for globalists. I called glibalistnlije and they simply transferred me to the hotel who didn’t know ?

Debra Schroeder

Wednesday 29th of June 2022

Hi Donna,

The Welk property in Escondido is a Hyatt Residence Club aka timeshare. So there are no Globalist benefits. Some hotels, like HRC Sedona, may give upgrades but it's the hotel's discretion and not required. It usually happens during low occupancy.

For Globalist who stay exclusively at Grand and Regency you are upgraded to the Grand and Regency Club level access via the room complimentary access this provides free breakfast PLUS free appetizers of even light entrees and desert at Night; What is the policy if you stay at a Regency/Grand and they dont have a club? Breakfast is free but how do they compensate for no Happy hour meals/non-alcohol drinks -Thanks

Debra Schroeder

Sunday 15th of November 2020

Hi Jerry,

There's no extra compensation beyond free breakfast if a Grand Hyatt or Hyatt Regency doesn't have a club lounge.

Hyatt residence Aspen does not offer any reps. Refused free parking to my GOH and the concierge said no Hyatt residence ever gives upgrades or free parking. Disappointed because I gifted my category 1-7 award to my friends for their anniversary. No breakfast, no upgrade, no free parking.

Debra Schroeder

Wednesday 30th of October 2019

Hi CJ,

Sorry to hear about your GOH experience at Hyatt Residence Aspen. unfortunately, the Hyatt Residence properties are timeshare properties as such benefits are limited to early check-in, waived resort fees, free parking on award nights, Globalist 30% bonus, and a guaranteed room.

Upgrades aren't guaranteed but at the discretion of the hotel. I got lucky in Sedona as have other Globalists. Hyatt Residences don't have an onsite restaurant so no free breakfast.

The parking fee should have been waived because even though it was a GOH booking it was an award night. I'd call your concierge back and see about getting that refunded. But that could be at the hotel's discretion.

I would love to get all these benefits but I don’t know if I travel enough to places that offer Hyatt hotels. However it sounds like one of the best programs out there and definitely something people should be aware of when there is so many hotel choices out there.
