Fly To Hawaii For Only 15,000 Miles

Got American Airlines AAdvantage miles burning a hole in your pocket?  For a limited time you can fly to Hawaii for only 15,000 miles each way.

2 Easy Steps to Fly to Hawaii For Only 15,000 Miles:

  1. Call American Airlines AAdvantage Reservations at 1-800-882-8880 and make your reservation
  2. Pack your bags and go

Restrictions:

  • Economy Award ticket travel at 15,000 miles each way
  • Travel dates between February 8 – March 13, 2013

Should I stay or should I go?

Shoveling snow versus sand between your toes?
Brutal chilly winds versus balmy offshore tropical breezes?
Drinking coffee to stay warm versus sipping Mai Tais on the beach?

Hmm, you decide….

Is this a good deal?

1.  5,000 miles savings

The current special is an Economy MileSAAver award ticket between the US and Canada to Hawaii for only 15,000 miles each way.  The standard Economy MileSAAver award ticket is 17,500 each way.

Under this promotion you would save 2,500 miles per person each way. Essentially with this promotion you’d save 5,000 miles roundtrip off an Economy MileSAAver award ticket.

2. 10% Mileage redeposit

If you are a Citibank American Airlines AAdvantage credit card holder you receive a 10% (up to 10,000 miles) mileage redeposit when using your miles.

If you were to book an award ticket under the fly to Hawaii for only 15,000 miles offer, it would only cost you 13,500 miles each way.

(15,000 – 1,500 (10% mileage redeposit) = 13,500)

3. Ticketing and Booking fees

a. American Airlines charges a ticketing fee of $25 when calling to book a ticket (both published and award tickets).

This fee is waived for Executive Platinum members.

b. American Airlines charges an award processing fee of $75 when booking an award ticket less than 21 days prior to departure.

This fee is waived for Executive Platinum, Platinum, and Gold members when using miles in their accounts.

How to get maximum value out of this promotion:

Save 5,000 miles by canceling and redepositing your miles if you already have an Economy MileSAAver award ticket for travel to Hawaii from the US and/or Canada during February 8 – March 13, 2013.

The downside to canceling your existing MileSAAver award ticket/s:

  • $150 fee per ticket for redepositing miles (waived for Executive Platinum members)
  • New award flights may not be on the same dates of travel as your existing flights
  • New award flight times might not be as favorable as your existing flights

Summary of the fine print:

  • Must call American Airlines AAdvantage Reservations at 1-800-882-8880 to book (booking fees apply; waived for Executive Platinum, Platinum, and Gold members when using miles in their accounts)
  • 15,000 mile Economy MileSAAver award special valid for travel on American Airlines marketed and operated flights between the US, Canada and Hawaii
  • Award inventory subject to availability
  • Standard AAdvantage award travel terms and conditions apply
  • Taxes and fees apply
