There are only a few days left to get 35% off on Southwest points purchased by December 11, 2017.

The discount applies to purchases of 5,000 points or more. You can buy up to 60,000 Southwest points per day.

It takes 72 hours for points to post to your account. So you should buy points 3 days before you plan to use them for your flights.

Pro-tip: Points purchased through this promotion do not count towards the Southwest Companion Pass (free flights for up to 2 years), A-List Preferred, or A-List status.

Are Buying Points Worth it?

I’ve written about the only time you should buy airline miles.

Southwest points normally cost 2.75 cents per point. You can buy points for 1.79 cents per point with this promotion.

Buying miles or points can be worth it if you fly during the holidays, summer, and other times when airline tickets are more expensive. But you have to do the math to compare the price of a ticket paid for with cash and the cost to buy points.

Conclusion

You can get 35% off on Southwest points when you buy points by December 11, 2017.

There’s a 5,000 point minimum to get the bonus. But you can buy 60,000 points per day.

If you’re flying during the holidays, summer or other peak travel period, you could save money on your airline tickets. Because sometimes it’s cheaper to buy points and use them for your flight instead of paying cash for your ticket.
