You can get a 30% discount on Choice points by August 10, 2018.

Choice points can be used to book free hotel rooms and they can be transferred to airlines like Southwest for free flights. They used to count towards earning the Southwest Companion Pass which meant you could fly free for two years. But in March 2017, Southwest stopped allowing transferred points to earn the Companion Pass.

With one of the biggest benefits and reasons to buy Choice points eliminated, does it make sense to buy them? Even at a 30% discount? Let’s find out.

Should You Buy Choice Points?

Should you buy Choice points? It depends.

Buying points during a sale can be a good move if you’re going to use them. But if you’re just building up a stash to use years from now you can probably hold off.

Most Choice hotels aren’t expensive. Unless you vacation on school holidays or in places where there are few hotels. If you travel during the holidays, summer, or spring break, buying points can save you a lot of money.
