Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines

Thanks to an expanded partnership between Hawaiian Airlines and American Airlines, you can now earn and redeem HawaiianMiles on select American Airlines flights.

2 Easy Ways Hawaiian Airlines miles are now more valuable

  1. Earn Hawaiian Miles on all American Airlines flights*
  2. Redeem Hawaiian Miles on American Airlines flights

What’s the catch?

You can’t earn Hawaiian Miles on American Flights from North America to Hawaii

You can only redeem flights on flights operated by American Airlines (codeshares not allowed)

How do I credit my miles on American Airlines flights?

Provide your HawaiianMiles membership number when you purchase your tickets or check in at the airport.

How do I redeem HawaiianMiles on American Airlines flights?

Call the HawaiianMiles Service Center at 1-877-HA-MILES (426-4537).

How many miles will I earn?

Exact number of miles earned will be based on the fare code of the ticket you purchase, but you’ll earn a minimum of 100% of the miles you fly.

How many Hawaiian Miles do I need to book a flight on American Airlines?

Roundtrip flights begin at 30,000 miles for an economy ticket.

Here’s a screenshot of the award chart.

I haven’t sat down to do the math yet, but this does open a lot more possibilities.

Hawaiian Airlines miles are now more valuable since there’s access to all of American’s marketed flights.

What do you think? Will you now be using your Hawaiian miles for flights on American instead of stays at Hilton?

Chase Sapphire Preferred

The Chase Sapphire Preferred is the best card for beginning travel hackers. It is the first card you should get to start traveling for free because the welcome offer is 60,000 points (after spending $4,000 in the first three months).

My favorite perks about this card are earning 2X points on travel and dining, no foreign transaction fees, and transferring points to 13 airline and hotel partners like Hyatt, United, and Southwest.

Chase Freedom Unlimited

The Chase Freedom Unlimited is one of my favorite cards for earning cash back card and travel rewards. It offers a welcome offer of $200 (after spending $500 in the first three months).

My favorite perks about this card are earning 5% cash back at grocery stores the first 12 months (up to $12k), unlimited 1.5% cash back on all purchases and no annual fee. When paired with cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve, you can use your points to travel for free.
