Who doesn’t like to cut the line? Now’s your chance to get Hyatt elite status. But should you do fast track to Hyatt Globalist?
Hyatt is offering a fast track program for elite status from September 1, 2017 to December 30, 2017. This offer is only available to World of Hyatt credit card holders.
With this offer, you can get elite status fast when you register and :
- Stay 10 nights earn Explorist status
- Stay 20 nights earn Globalist status
Normally, you would need 30 nights to earn Explorist status and 60 nights for Globalist status. Sounds great, right? But let’s take a closer look.
Hyatt Globalist Benefits
As a Globalist you get:
- Free upgrades to the best available room including suites
- Complimentary breakfast
- Club lounge access
- Free premium Wi-Fi
- One free bottle of water each day
- Separate check-in area
- Late check-out (4 pm)
- Waived resort fees

- Gold status with Mlife
- Guest of Honor benefits
- 2 free United Club passes
- Private reservation number
- 30% bonus points

When you stay 60 nights or earn 100,000 base points you also get:

What You Lose With a Fast Track Hyatt Globalist
If you qualify for Globalist under a fast track program you don’t get:
- Four confirmed suite upgrade awards
- A free Category 1-7 night
- Access to My Hyatt Concierge for reservations and personalized service
- To requalify for Globalist status every year after 55 nights
Cost of a Hyatt Globalist Fast Track
The Hyatt Globalist fast track could be a good idea if you rarely travel. Staying 20 nights from September 1, 2017 to December 30, 2017 could pay off for you next year. Assuming the cities you’re visiting have a Hyatt hotel.
You’d pay $2,000 for a Hyatt Globalist fast track if you stayed 20 nights for $100 a night. Not a small sum of cash.
If you live or can get to Vegas for cheap, staying 20 nights at the Excalibur costs $1,040 including resort fees. Taxes are not included.
So far the fast track Hyatt Globalist offer sounds fantastic. But it’s not for everyone.
Who Should Fast Track Hyatt Globalist
Business Traveler
You should do the Hyatt Globalist fast track you’re a business traveler. But only if someone else is paying for your hotel. Because the upgrade benefits would make your stays more comfortable. It’s not your money so it doesn’t matter what a fast track will cost.
Hyatt Loyalists
Do you plan all your vacations around locations where there’s a Hyatt? If you only stay at Hyatt hotels, then you should do the fast track Hyatt Globalist offer. Because for you, it’s all about Hyatt, nothing else matters.
Long Vacation or Many Stays at Hyatt Hotels
The fast track could be worth it if your 2018 travel includes many nights at Hyatt hotels. If you’re staying at expensive Hyatt hotels it could be worth spending $2,000. But you should do the math to compare.
Who Shouldn’t Hyatt Globalist Fast Track
Infrequent Traveler
If you don’t travel often, you could spend more money doing the Hyatt Globalist fast track. You have to stay 20 nights in an area that has a Hyatt hotel. Most people only get one week vacation.
Breakfast at Hyatt costs $25 or more (sometimes less) per person. Two breakfasts every day for a week costs $350. Spending $2,000 on a Globalist fast track for 7 nights of free breakfast costs more than paying for breakfast.
A basic suite (Globalist upgrade) can cost $100 or more over the price of a regular room. Seven nights in a suite at $200 a night costs $1,400.
The Globalist challenge costs $2,000. A seven-night vacation in a suite and paying for breakfast will cost $1,750. You would save $250 by not doing the fast track.
You Stay at Hyatt Place and Hyatt House
Globalist benefits of free breakfast and suite upgrade don’t apply. Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels offer free breakfast to all guests in a room regardless of status. Hyatt House has suites but not the suites you’re looking for. (Yes, I am a Star Wars fan.)
Given that these hotels are about $100 a night, you’re not saving any money. You’re actually spending more money to get less.
Because you’re paying $2,000 to get free breakfast included with the room.

Current Globalists
You’ll lose benefits if you already have Globalist status.
The upgrades are one of the best perks of having Globalist status. But with the fast track program, you don’t get the 4 confirmed upgrades. You’ll take your chances with the masses, hoping for a free upgrade upon check-in.
Nor will you get the free night at any Hotel hotel worldwide. Say goodbye to that free night at the Park Hyatt Maldives, Park Hyatt Sydney or the Miraval Arizona.
Although Hyatt has offered a fast track program twice this year, there’s no guarantee they’ll offer it next year. So you’ll still need 60 stays in 2018 to keep those benefits.
Conclusion
The fast track Hyatt Globalist sounds like a great idea. You can get Hyatt Globalist status after staying 20 nights from September 1, 2017 through December 30, 2017. Normally you need 60 nights to earn Globalist. But it’s not all champagne, roses, and chocolates. It can cost you more money.
This offer is open to Hyatt credit card holders who enroll in the offer.
You’ll spend at least $2,000 to stay 20 nights to fast track to Hyatt Globalist. This might not be worth it if you only get a week or two of vacation each year. Nor is it worth it if the places you’re traveling don’t have any Hyatt hotels.
Doing the fast track also means you won’t get some Globalist perks like four confirmed suite upgrades and a free night at any Hyatt hotel in the world.
But a fast track to Hyatt Globalist can be worth it if you travel a lot, are loyal to Hyatt, and/or are a business traveler whose company pays for your travel. You should do the math to see if a fast track to Hyatt Globalist is worth the price.
