IHG Rewards Club Points 100% Bonus

Share with a friend

Given the current situation, many of us haven’t been traveling, so we have a lot of hotel points. So is it worth taking a look at the IHG Rewards Club Points 100% bonus offer?

Maybe…

I’ve written about the only time you should buy hotel points. I don’t recommend buying points to stockpile or amass a huge stash. But if you have an upcoming use for IHG points or have future hotel stays you want to lock in now, you might want to consider this promotion.

During a sale, buying points can be a great deal, especially when it’s a BOGO offer. If you didn’t take advantage of this offer when it first came out, you’re in luck. But there are only a few days left to buy IHG points for a 100% bonus.

When you buy IHG Rewards Club points you get a 100% bonus through August 14, 2020.

To get the bonus, you have to buy at least 15,000 IHG points and you can purchase up to 250,000 points. Normally you can get the bonus when you buy 7,000 points and you’re limited to 150,000 points a year.

If you are planning to buy IHG points, the increased maximum is worth considering. But a bummer for those who only needed to buy several thousand points because now you have to buy more than twice as many points.

Normally, IHG points cost 1.35 cents per point but with the 100% bonus, you can buy points for 0.5 cents per point!

With the bonus, buying 250,000 points plus the 250,000 point bonus gives you 500,000 points for $2,500.

How to Buy IHG Points

1.  Use the IHG buy points link
2.  Log in with your name, IHG number, and email
3.  Choose how many points you want to buy
4.  Pay with your credit card

Buying IHG points do not count as a travel purchase. This means you won’t earn bonus points when paying with a travel rewards card like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card.

You won’t get the 20% discount if you pay with your IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card because it’s a special offer. 🙁

Pro-tip: You can earn 3X points when you buy IHG points using your Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card. Because you earn 3x points on the first $150,000 spent on travel and select business categories.

If you have to meet minimum spending on a new travel rewards credit card, use that card first.

Should You Buy IHG Points With an up to 100% Bonus

It’s hard to resist a sale. Especially a 100% bonus sale where you can buy IHG points for half a penny! So should you purchase points?

Buying points and using them for free nights can save you hundreds of dollars.

You can save a lot of money when you buy IHG points if you travel during peak times like summer, the holidays, have a large family and need two or more hotel rooms, or if you stay in expensive hotels.

Pro-tip: With the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card, when you use points you get your fourth night free

Palazzo Las Vegas

A stay at the Palazzo Las Vegas can be expensive. Or you can redeem 70,000 IHG points.

Buying 35,000 points with a 100% bonus gets you 70,000 points for $350. It can cost more than that if you paid cash.

Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa

A night at the Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa before Christmas costs $650 or 70,000 IHG points.

With the 100% bonus, you can buy 70,000 points for $350. You’ll save $300 using points.

InterContinental Hotels: Bora Bora Resort Thalasso Spa

One night in an Emerald Overwater Villa at the InterContinental Hotels: Bora Bora Resort Thalasso Spa costs $1,100. Or you can pay 70,000 points.

You can buy 80,000 points for $400. Using your points for a free night saves $700!

Instead of paying $7,700 for a week in Bora Bora in an overwater bungalow, you could buy 500,000 IHG points for $2,500. A savings of $5,200!!

Pro-tip: With the fourth-night free benefit of the IHG card, that one week stay would only cost  430,000 points or $2,150 if you bought points.

But sometimes, you don’t save money. You have to do the math to figure out if it’s the right move for you.

Conclusion

A luxury suite in Las Vegas. Christmas in the Caribbean. An overwater villa in the South Pacific.  Just a few of the things you do with the IHG Rewards Club Points 100% Bonus offer. You can buy IHG points: get up to an 100% bonus through August 14, 2020.

This offer applies to purchases of 15,000 points to 250,000 points. With this deal, you can buy points for as little as half a penny.

Buying IHG points doesn’t count as a travel bonus on cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card. But you can get 3X points if you pay with your Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card on the first $150,000 spent on travel and select business categories.

You get the 4th night free when redeeming points for a hotel stay of 4 nights or more if you have the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card.

Staying at an IHG hotel will often cost less if you buy IHG points to use for stays at expensive hotels and during the summer and holidays. But you should do the math first.

How many IHG points are you buying?
