Here’s a summary of this week’s miles and points offers, deals, and specials:
Credit Cards
- American Express new transfer partner – Emirates. You can transfer your Membership Rewards Points to Emirates Skywards. Transfers are on a 1:1 basis, with a 1,000 point minimum. Skywards have a three year expiration and can not be extended
- 50,000 points from Southwest. You get 50,000 points after spending $2,000 in the first three months. This offer and link is still valid on the Southwest website. Keep in mind the fine print says apply by October 30, 2014 so take screenshots.
Airlines
- FAA approves portable electronic use below 10,000 feet. You can use portable electronics (Kindle, iPad, and smartphones) during taxing, takeoff, and landing.
- Qatar joins Oneworld Alliance. Qatar is now officially part of the Oneworld Alliance. You can earn and redeem miles on American Airlines.
- Your miles won’t get you as far anymore. United has increased the cost of award tickets. The new increases will go into effect on February 1, 2014. Award bookings made before February 1, 2014 fall under the old award chart while award bookings made on February 1, 2014 or after are subject to the new award chart.
Hotels
- 5,000 points gets you a night in Tahiti. IHG Point Breaks list (where select hotels are offered for only 5,000 points a night) is out and the Intercontinental Tahiti is on it!
