Share with a friend

The long days of summer bring fun in the sun, and hotel promotions like 10% rebate on Hyatt points$20 Best Western Gift Card and 1,500 points per stay at Marriotts. You can get 2k every day at Courtyard by Marriott.

With almost 1,200 Courtyard by Marriott hotels in 50 countries it’s not difficult to find a hotel to earn 2,000 points per day.

But is this offer worth it? Let’s find out.

2K Every Day at Courtyard by Marriott Yeah or Nay?

Courtyard San Diego Liberty Station

The 2K every day at Courtyard by Marriott offer is an ongoing promotion that only doesn’t require registration. But you have to be a member of Marriott Bonvoy and enter promo code 53M to receive the bonus points.

Any time I can earn bonus points I’m a happy camper.

Two thousand extra points a day really adds up especially if you’re staying a week.

Because award redemptions start at 7,500 points per night, you’ll earn enough points for a free night after staying three nights. Two nights once off peak award pricing starts.

Pro-tip: Off peak award pricing starting from 5,000 points per night is coming soon.

But sometimes you’ll pay more for those bonus points.

With the 2K every day at Courtyard by Marriott, this is one of those times.

If you booked the Courtyard San Diego Airport/Liberty Station using the 53M rate, you’d pay $409 per night (not including taxes).

But the same room booked at a member rate only costs $370 a night. A savings of $39 off the base rate plus you’ll pay less taxes.

Booking the special offer rate you’re essentially buying points for 1.95 each.

The normal cost to buy Marriott points is 1.25 cents. Essentially you’re paying more to pay points.

When to Book a 2K Every Day Rate

Participating in the 2k every day at Courtyard by Marriott promotion isn’t worth it for most people because you’re paying a higher room rate and taxes.

The are only a few times you should consider this offer.

Someone else is paying for the room (OPM – other people’s money)

If someone else is paying for the room such as an employer or client then it could be worth booking the 2k every day rate.

Pro-tip: Not the best idea if you value your relationship with your employee or client.

Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite

You should book a 2K every day rate if you’re Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite because you earn a 75% point bonus.

Stays at Courtyard by Marriott earn 10 points per $1. As a Titanium or Ambassador you’d earn 17.5 points per $1.

In our above example at the Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Airport/Liberty Station, a one night stay booked at the standard rate would earn 6,475 points.

Whereas booked at the 2K rate you’d earn 7,157 points plus 2,000 bonus points for a total of 9,157 points.

Paying the extra $39 (not including tax) earns 2,682 extra points at a cost of 1.45 cents per point. Still more than buying pointst

Pro-tip: Do the math first to see if it’s worth the extra money for the bonus points.

Exceed Limit on Buying Points

Booking a 2k rate could be worth it if you want to exceed the limit on buying points.

Marriott allows you to buy or receive 50,000 points per year. Bonus points earned from promotions don’t count towards this limit.

If you’re already bought 50,000 points and need extra points it could be worth paying more to earn the points.

Get the Fifth Night Free

When you redeem Marriott points for four nights, you get the fifth night free.

If you’re short a couple thousands points towards a five night vacation where you could use your points to get the fifth night free it could be worth paying the 2k rate to earn extra points.

Conclusion

You can get 2K every day at Courtyard by Marriott. This ongoing promotion that gives you 2,000 bonus Marriott points per night at Courty by Marriott stays doesn’t require registration but you have to book using promo code 53M.

Because you’ll pay a highly nightly rate to earn the bonus points, for most people this promotion is worth doing.

However, there are a few times that it could be worth booking the 2K rate.

When have you found that booking a higher nightly rate worth it?
