Rio Las Vegas Will Rebrand as Hyatt

Rio Las Vegas, the all-suite hotel & casino will rebrand as a Hyatt hotel, under franchise agreements between Hyatt and Dreamscapes.

The agreement will allow multiple Hyatt hotels under one roof, similar to the NoMad Las Vegas and Park MGM Las Vegas, Caesars Palace and the Nobu Hotel Las Vegas.

The last time I was at the Rio was my January trip to Las Vegas when I used my Caesars Diamond $100 celebration dinner at Voodoo Steakhouse.

On that short road trip, I packed light as if I was flying Frontier Airlines to Las Vegas. So I didn't bring any nice clothes and wanted steak. So Voodoo it was. Stay tuned for that review.

Purchased for $516.3 million from Caesars in December 2019, Rio is leased to Caesars for $45 million a year.

That lease agreement ends this December and Rio's future was precarious creating the perfect opportunity to bring more Hyatt hotels to Las Vegas.

Kim Bertram, Hyatt's vice president of real estate and development, stated "Las Vegas is an important destination for our guests, World of Hyatt members, and customers, and this project is a significant step for Hyatt as we continue to grow our brands in markets that matter most to our loyal travelers."

Rio Renovations

Rio renovations will include the public areas: casino floor, pool deck, spa and fitness center, restaurants, and retail shopping.

The Masquerade Tower will get converted 1,501 room Hyatt Regency hotel with an opening date of 2023.

Note: Hyatt and Dreamscapes haven't said which of Rio's two towers will become the Hyatt Regency.

I'm assuming it's the Masquerade Tower as opposed to the Ipanema Tower because it's closer to the meeting and convention space.

Rio will be open during the makeover.

Hyatt has not announced which other Hyatt branded hotel/s the Ipanema Tower will become.

My guess is a Caption by Hyatt, Hyatt Centric, or Hyatt House. Or possibly try to reach a more luxury market with an Andaz. So many possibilities.

Hyatt hasn't released a timeline for when the second tower will be converted. I'll keep you updated once I know more information.

Conclusion

Under franchise agreements between Hyatt and Dreamscape, Rio Las Vegas will rebrand as multiple Hyatt hotels.

One of Rio's towers will become a Hyatt Regency with a projected 2023 completed date.

In addition to the rebranding, all of the hotel's public spaces will be refurbished.

It's been years, decades since I've stayed at Rio so I'm looking forward to the new changes.
