Saturday Summary: Earn Elite Status Faster on Alaska, US Airways Joins Oneworld and More!

Airlines
- Earn elite status on Alaska Airlines faster. Starting January 15, 2014, you can earn elite qualifying miles on all Alaska Airlines partners.
- Delta revamps upgrade process. Platinum members can choose four Regional Upgrades and Diamond Medallion members can choose either four Global Upgrades or eight Regional Upgrades. Upgrades are valid on all paid fares, except E fares.
- US Airways to join oneworld. US Airways will leave the Star Alliance on March 30, 2014 and become part of the oneworld alliance on March 31, 2014. Redeem your US Airways miles on Star Alliance flights by March 30, 2014. After US Airways leaves the Star Alliance, you can't make use US Airways miles on Star Alliance flights or make changes to your reservation.
