Get up to a 50% Bonus on Alaska Miles
Your bonus will be either 20%, 35%, or 50%. You have to sign into your Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan account to see how much you’re offered for a mystery bonus.
There’s no limit to how many miles you can buy. You can buy up to 60,000 miles (not counting the bonus) per transaction. This means you can buy 60,000 miles each time. The fine print doesn’t state how many transactions are allowed per day. So it could be a daily limit.
If you got the 50% off, buying 60,000 miles gets you 90,000 miles for $1,773.75.
Points generally post in 72 hours. So give yourself at least 3 days for your miles to post before you want to redeem them.
Pro-tip: Purchased miles do not count towards MVP or MVP/Gold status.
Should You Buy Alaska Airlines Miles
Getting a 50% bonus is a good deal but should you buy miles? I’ve written about the only time you should buy airline miles.
With this promotion, you can buy miles for as little as 1.97 cents per mile. Which is a pretty darn good deal.
Because Bank of America limits how many Alaska Airlines credit cards you can get buying Alaska Airlines miles is a good option.
Pro-tip: Points.com handles the sale you don’t earn a travel bonus. So use a card that you need to meet the minimum spending or one that gives you perks for spending like the World of Hyatt credit card: 2 elite qualifying nights when you spend $5,000.

Best Use of Alaska Airlines Miles
1. Singapore
You can use Alaska miles to fly to Singapore.
It costs 30,000 Alaska miles for a one-way coach ticket to Singapore. Or you can use 70,000 Alaska Airlines miles and fly First Class on Cathay Pacific. Cathay Pacific is one of my favorite airlines to fly First Class flights. 🙂
Normally a one-way First Class ticket on Cathay to Singapore would cost over $9,859. But you can buy 47,000 miles and get 23,500 bonus miles for $1,292.50. That’s a savings of over $8,566!
2. Australia
One-way coach flights from the US to Australia only cost 40,000 Alaska miles.
3. Short Trips
First Class on Alaska Airlines to Hawaii
One of the best uses of Alaska miles is on short trips. Alaska Airlines has a distance-based award chart for flights on Alaska Airlines in the US, Costa Rica, and Mexico. Short flights of 700 miles or less on Alaska Airlines are only 5,000 miles.
