Because the Southwest 100,000 points bonus counts towards earning the Southwest Companion Pass, once you earn it you can fly free for almost two years.

With the Companion Pass, your companion flies for free with you on Southwest. Kinda like an emotional support person but with the vest and they get their own seat instead of having to sit at your feet or under the seat in front of you. Just kidding!

There’s no limit to how often you can use your Southwest Companion Pass. You can fly as often (every day, every weekend) or as little as you want, it’s your choice.

But there’s one catch: you have to earn 125,000 Southwest points in a year to earn your Companion Pass. But with the Southwest 100,000 points bonus offer, you can earn that in a few minutes!

Pro-tip: Chase Ultimate Rewards points transferred from cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred or the Ink Business Preferred do not count towards the Pass.

How to Earn a Southwest Companion Pass Fast

The signup bonus on all four cards: Southwest Priority Card, Southwest Premier Card, Southwest Plus Card, is 100,000 points and Southwest Premier Business Card is 60,000 points.

You can quickly earn a Companion Pass by getting a personal and business card. With the bonus on all three personal cards is 100,000 points, you could get the Southwest Premier Business card and one of the personal cards Southwest Priority card, Southwest Premier, or the Southwest Plus card, and satisfy the spending requirement, you’d earn 197,000 points. (60,000 points + 3,000 points + 100,000 points + 12,000 points).

You’ll have all the points you need to earn your Southwest Companion Pass and give you lots of points to use for free trips.

But now the bonus is 100,000 points for all three personal cards.

Pro-tip: Be sure to read our ultimate guide on earning Southwest points without flying.

Eligible for Southwest Cards

You are eligible to apply for Southwest cards if you don’t currently have a Southwest credit card and have not received a Southwest bonus within the last 24 months.

Pro-tip: These cards are subject to the Chase 5/24 rule. If you have opened 5 new credit cards in the last 24 months (aka 5/24), it could be hard to get approved.

Conclusion

All Southwest cards were offering 60,000 points bonus: Southwest Premier card,  Southwest Priority CardSouthwest Plus Card, Southwest Premier Business Card through June 10, 2019. This is one of the highest bonuses offered on these cards. But the bonus point is now 100,000 points each.

The bonus points count towards earning the Southwest Companion Pass. You can earn a Southwest Companion fast when you get a personal and a business card.

Remember that when you transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Southwest from cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred or the Ink Business Preferred they don’t count towards earning the Pass.
