You can get up to a 100% bonus when you buy Hilton points through March 11, 2022. You will either get an 80% bonus or a 100% bonus. To see which bonus you’ve qualified for, you have to log into your account.
Buying Hilton points on sale can be a great deal, especially for vacations of five nights or more because you get the fifth night free when using points.

How Much Does It Cost to Buy Hilton Points
Hilton points normally cost 1 cent per point. With this promotion, you can buy points for as low as 0.5 cents.
If you buy 80,000 Hilton points, you’ll get either an 64,000 point bonus (80%) or an 80,000 point bonus (100%). So 160,000 points will only cost $800. Considerably less than paying $3,000 a night for the Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi!
Pro-tip: You get up the 80% or 100% bonus whether you buy 20,000 or 80,000 points or any amount in between. So this is a good deal especially if you want to book free nights at expensive hotels like the Conrad Maldives.
How to Buy Hilton Points
1. Use the buy Hilton points link
2. Log in to your account
3. Choose how many points you want to buy
4. Pay with your credit card
You have to buy a minimum of 5,000 points to get your bonus.
Pro-tip: Buying points doesn’t count towards Hilton Honors elite status or towards your lifetime base points.
How Many Hilton Points Can You Buy
You can buy up to 80,000 Hilton Honors points per calendar year. This doesn’t include bonuses.
Pro-tip: Hilton lets you pool points with family and friends. You can send up to 500,000 points to someone and receive 2,000,000 points per calendar year. Another incentive to buy Hilton points during a sale.
What Credit Card to Use to Buy Hilton Honors Points
Buying Hilton points doesn’t code as a travel purchase because they’re sold through a third party. This means you won’t earn a hotel or travel category bonus.
If you have a new travel rewards credit card that you have to meet minimum spending on, you should use that card before other cards.
Without a minimum spend, use a card that gives you transferrable currency like the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, the Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card, The Platinum Card® from American Express, or the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card.
Another option is to use a cash back card like the Chase Freedom Unlimited®.
Pro-tip: You earn 3X points when you buy Hilton Honors points with your Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card. Because you earn 3x points on the first $150,000 spent on travel and select business categories.
How Many Points for a Free Night at Hilton
The amount of points you need for a free night at Hilton varies.
Hilton doesn’t have a traditional nor published award chart. Instead the Hilton Honors program uses dynamic award chart also known as flexible award pricing.
Think of it as supply and demand or peak and off-peak pricing. You’ll pay more points when you travel when everyone wants to travel and pay less if you travel during the off season.
Free nights at Hilton start from 5,000 points per night to 95,000 points per night. However, some hotels start at 150,000 points per night
Pro-tip: You can use the Hilton Points Explorer Tool to see how many points needed for a stay.
Hilton Fifth Night Free Benefit
The Hilton fifth night free benefit allows you to maximize your points. Get more vacation for less money. Travel more for less.
You get the fifth night free when you use points to stay 5 nights at a Hilton hotel. Instead of paying for five nights, you only pay for four nights.
The fifth night free benefit only works for consecutive stays at one hotel. So you can’t stay 2 nights at one Hilton hotel and 3 nights at another hotel. You have to stay 5 nights at the same hotel.
This benefit is available if you have Hilton Silver, Gold, or Diamond elite status.
Don’t have Hilton elite status? You can get it for free for as long as you have these cards:
- Hilton Honors American Express Card – Gold status*
- The Platinum Card® from American Express – Gold status*
- The Business Platinum Card® from American Express – Gold status*
- Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card – Gold status*
- Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card – Diamond status*
Pro-tip: You can use the fifth-night free benefit as many times a year as you want. But there’s a cap of four free nights per stay. So for a 20 night stay at the same hotel, you’d get four nights free.
Should You Buy Hilton Points
You can save a lot of money buying Hilton points, especially during a sale. Buying points for half the cost lets you can take advantage of the fifth night free offer at aspirational properties.
Combine that with easy to earn elite status for free breakfast, room upgrades, and hotel credit it’s a luxury vacation for less, a trip of a lifetime, or memory making family vacation.

Buying hotel points is an easy way to meet minimum spending on new credit cards that you can’t use with Plastiq.
Save Money During Summer and Holiday Travel
You can save money during summer and holiday travel by buying points. Hotel rooms are more expensive during peak season. Purchasing and redeeming points for free hotel nights can be cheaper than paying cash.
For families who can only travel during the summer and school holidays, this could mean the difference between going on vacation or staying home.
Here’s an example of how buying points can save you money.

You could pay $892 a night for 7 nights during the summer at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. Your total cost including the $45 daily resort fee and taxes would be $7,745.84.
Or you could use 70,000 points per night. Your total cost is 420,000 points with the fifth night free benefit. Resort fees are waived when you use points.
Buying 420,000 points costs $2,400 with the 100% bonus and pooling three accounts. You, your partner, and/or family member or friend would each buy 80,000 points and get an 80,000 point bonus, resulting in 160,000 points for $800 each.
You’d save $5,345.84 buying and redeeming Hilton points
Other examples of great uses of Hilton points are:
- Hilton Playa del Carmen, an All-Inclusive Resort – 77,000 points per night
- Conrad Maldives Rangali Island – 95,000 points per night
- Hilton Reykjavik Nordica – 35,000 points per night
- DoubleTree by Hilton London – Tower of London – 29,000 points per night
