Earn Southwest Companion Pass After 1 Flight Promo is Back

Share with a friend

Free flights? Yes, please! One of the easiest ways to earn a Southwest Companion Pass promo is back. You can earn a Southwest Companion Pass after one flight!

Last year, Southwest offered everyone the opportunity to earn a Southwest Companion Pass after one flight. The promo did so well they brought it back!

Who doesn’t like free flights?

You can fly to over 110 cities in the US, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America such as  Hawaii, Cancun, and Belize on Southwest Airlines.

Southwest Companion Pass

With the Southwest Companion Pass, you can bring your spouse, partner, friend, or buddy with you on all your Southwest flights. There are no limits to how often your companion can fly with you. The best part. When you have a Southwest Companion Pass, your companion flies for free.

Your buddy will have to pay the airport taxes on their tickets which are about $6 per airport in the United States.

Pro-tip: An easy travel hack is to use your Southwest Companion Pass to position from another city for cheap flights to other countries.

The Companion Pass is a great travel bargain for families. Each parent can earn a Southwest Companion Pass and add a child as their companion. Your family gets to fly for free!

Pro-tip: You can change your companion three times a year.

To earn a Southwest Companion Pass you have to earn 125,000 points or fly 100 one-way flights in a calendar year. Update: Now you have to earn 135,000 points.

Once earned, your Pass is valid for the rest of the year and until the end of the following year. So if you time it right, your Companion Pass gets you two years of free flights.

But with the Southwest Companion Pass promo offer, you can earn your Pass after one roundtrip flight or two one-way flights!

Southwest Companion Pass After One Flight

Instead of earning 125,000 points or flying 100 flights, you can earn a Southwest Companion Pass after one flight. Update: Now you have to earn 135,000 points.

Here’s how:

Pro-tip: Only flights purchased with cash qualify. So an award ticket (flight booked with Southwest Rapid Rewards points) will not qualify for the offer.

The Catch

Normally the Southwest Companion Pass is good for the year you earn it and all of the next year. But with the Companion Pass promo offer, your Pass is only valid for two months: January 6, 2022 through February 28, 2022.

But, two months of free flights is better than no free flights.

Should You Take This Offer

If you have any plans to fly Southwest through November 18, 2021, this is a great deal.

With a couple of tricks, you can travel hack this offer into two years of free flights.

If you’re 5/24, this is a great offer to jumpstart you into next year. Hopefully, free up a space so you can earn the Companion Pass from a bonus.

Pro-tip: You can combine this with the 2X points offer and the Elite status offer promo.

How to Maximize This Offer

Here’s how to maximize this offer and get two years of free flights when you earn Southwest Companion Pass after one flight.

Earn 125,000 Points

If you want your Pass to last longer, you can earn 125,000 points or fly 100 flights. Update: Now you have to earn 135,000 points.

There are lots of easy ways to earn Southwest points. If you don’t have a lot of travel coming up, here’s the ultimate guide on how to earn Southwest Points without flying.

You can also watch this video.

Pro-tip: Earning points is the cheapest way to earn a Southwest Companion Pass.

Fly 100 Southwest Flights

Another way to extend your Companion Pass for two years is to fly 100 one-way flights.

Southwest frequently offers $29 one-way flights. Flying 100 one-way flights would cost $2,900. This is the most expensive way to maximize this offer.

Summary of the Fine Print

  • Registration required
  • Purchase roundtrip or two one-way flights by September 9, 2021
  • Travel by November 18, 2021
  • All paid flights on Southwest qualify except charter, group, and vacation packages

Conclusion

You can earn a Southwest Companion Pass after one flight. With a Companion Pass, your chosen buddy can fly with you for free for the length of your pass.

Registration and flying a roundtrip flight (or two one-way) flights by November 18, 2021 is required. Flights have to be purchased by September 9, 2021.

I’m pretty excited about this offer. It’s an easy way to earn a Southwest Companion Pass and I plan to maximize and extend my Pass for two years by earning 135,000 Southwest points without flying. I have some flights I have to book and am glad I didn’t book yesterday.

This is great to know. It's always nice to earn while you're flying. I've never actually been on a plane yet, but hopefully soon.
