You can quickly earn the Southwest Companion Pass in two easy steps. With the Companion Pass, you can bring a partner, family member, or friend, and they get to fly with you for free!

All of the three personal Southwest cards are offering a bonus of a Southwest Companion Pass and 30,000 points when you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months. Update: The credit card offer in this post is no longer available. The new offer is 50,000 points after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first three months of opening your account.

This means you can earn a Companion Pass from only one card!

Not sure which Southwest card is right for you? Here’s how to decide which Southwest card to get.

Complete the Minimum Spending

You earn the Southwest Companion Pass and 30,000 points after you complete the minimum spending requirement.

Using your credit card to pay everyday expenses is an easy way to meet your minimum spending.

You can use your travel rewards card to pay things like your rent or mortgage, cable, cell phone, car insurance, student loan, and groceries.

If you have to pay taxes, you’ll earn miles and points when you pay with your credit card.

You can also buy grocery store, gas station, Netflix, and restaurant gift cards. You can purchase them as gifts or use them later.

There are lots of creative and unusual ways to meet the minimum spending.

Pro-tip: This pass is valid through February 28, 2023.

But you extend your Southwest Companion Pass through December 31, 2024 with a few tricks like earning Southwest points without flying.

Here’s how to choose a Southwest Business card.

Conclusion

During this limited time offer, you can earn a Southwest Companion Pass fast.

It’s simple two step process that lets your companion fly for free with you every time you fly on Southwest.

First, get one of the three personal Southwest cards: Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card, Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card, or Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card.

Then meet the minimum spending of $5,000 on purchases in the first three months. Update: The credit card offer in this post is no longer available. The new offer is 50,000 points after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening.

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is the best card to get started in the world of miles and points. It is the first card you should get to start traveling for free because the welcome offer is 60,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first three months.

My favorite perks about this card are earning 5X points on travel when booked through the Chase portal (2X if direct purchase), 3X points on dining, $50 yearly credit on hotels booked through the Chase portal, no foreign transaction fees, and transferring points to 13 airline and hotel partners like Hyatt, United, and Southwest.

Chase Freedom Unlimited®

The Chase Freedom Unlimited® is one of my favorite cards for earning cash back card and travel rewards. It offers a welcome offer of an additional 1.5% cash back on all your purchases up to $20,000 your first year.

My favorite perks about this card are earning 5% cash back on travel booked through the Chase Travel Portal, 3% cash back at drugstores and restaurants (including delivery and takeout), 1.5% cash back on all other purchases and no annual fee. When paired with cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card or Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, you can use your points to travel for free.
