Limited Time Offer: Buy IHG Points & Get a 100% Bonus Sale

The latest promotion from IHG Rewards Club gives you a 100% bonus when you buy IHG points by June 8, 2019.

IHG offers the 100% bonus once a year so if you were thinking of buying points now could be a good time.

To get the bonus, you have to purchase 7,000 IHG points and you can purchase up to 100,000 points.

IHG points normally cost 1.3 cents per point but with the 100% bonus, you can buy points for half a cent (0.5 cents) per point!

How to Buy IHG Points

1.  Use the IHG buy points link.
2.  Sign into your account with your name, IHG number, and email.
3.  Choose how many points you want to buy.
4.  Pay with your credit card.

Buying IHG points doesn’t count as a travel purchase. So you won’t earn bonus points when paying with a travel rewards card like the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Sapphire Reserve.

Pro-tip: But you can earn 3X points when paying for IHG points with your Ink Business Preferred.

If you have to meet minimum spending on a new travel rewards credit card, you should use that card.

The IHG Rewards Club Premier card 20% discount on purchased points doesn’t apply during the sale. 🙁

Should You Buy IHG Points With a 100% Bonus

Sale is a trigger word for me, especially when it comes to travel. It’s hard to resist.

Especially when you can buy IHG points for half a penny!

If you stay in expensive hotels, travel during peak times like summer or the holidays, need two or more hotel rooms, you can save a lot of money buying IHG points.

Pro-tip: Purchasing IHG points saves thousands of dollars on a New Year’s Eve stay at the Intercontinental New York Times Square and several hundred dollars an overwater villa at the InterContinental Hotels: Bora Bora Resort Thalasso Spa.

How to Get 40+ Free Hotel Nights

When you combine the 100% bonus promotion with IHG PointsBreaks where free award nights cost 5,000 points, you can stretch your vacation dollars and your vacation.

Buying 100,000 points during the sale gives you 200,000 points. At 5,000 points a night, that’s 40 nights! But you can maximize and travel hack it for even more nights!

Pro-tip: The IHG Rewards Club Premier card gives you the fourth night free on award stays of 4 nights or more.

Those 200,000 points combined with a PointsBreak award and the IHG card gets you 53 free nights!

Conclusion

You can buy IHG points and get a 100% bonus through June 8, 2019.

The promotion applies to purchases of 7,000 points to 100,000 points. You can buy points for a little as half a penny.

Buying IHG points doesn’t qualify for a travel bonus on cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Sapphire Reserve. But you can get 3X points paying with your Ink Business Preferred.

You get the 4th night free when you use points for hotel stays of 4 nights or more if you have the IHG Rewards Club Premier card. This means you could get 53 free hotels nights when you buy 100,000 IHG points during the 100% bonus offer and redeem them on PointsBreaks hotels.

Staying at an IHG hotel will cost less when you buy IHG points and use them to stay at expensive hotels and during the summer and holidays. But do the math first.

How many IHG points are you buying?

Chase Sapphire Preferred

The Chase Sapphire Preferred is the best card for beginning travel hackers. It is the first card you should get to start traveling for free because the welcome offer is 60,000 points (after spending $4,000 in the first three months).

My favorite perks about this card are earning 2X points on travel and dining, no foreign transaction fees, and transferring points to 13 airline and hotel partners like Hyatt, United, and Southwest.

Chase Freedom Unlimited

The Chase Freedom Unlimited is one of my favorite cards for earning cash back card and travel rewards. It offers a welcome offer of $200 (after spending $500 in the first three months).

My favorite perks about this card are earning 5% cash back at grocery stores the first 12 months (up to $12k), unlimited 1.5% cash back on all purchases and no annual fee. When paired with cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve, you can use your points to travel for free.
